To size: To 30mm. Shell Structure: Brittle. Equivalve: Inequivalve, RV more convex than LV. Equilateral: Inequilateral, beaks behind midline. Outline: Oval; anterior margin broadly rounded, posterior dorsal margin straight, becoming truncated. Ventral margin almost straight, curves slightly in some specimens.
Sculpture: Concentric lines and ridges covered with coarse granulations which are more visible on the posterior and can be seen at low magnification. Margin: Smooth. Ligament: External and internal: External short, behind beaks; internal thick in a narrow triangular resilifer below external. Hinge: Lithodesma short, narrow, in front of ligament. Pallial Musculature: Broadly rounded to below anterior end of resilifer. Not confluent. Periostracum: Light brown, very thin. Colour: White.
