Type evidence:
The NMW lot has a Tomlin label stating it is ex Ancey and an Ancey label bearing the type locality, but it does not indicate it is a type. Geret’s sales list confirms a specimen from Ancey’s collection went to Tomlin. It is the only specimen from Ancey’s collection known but there is no mention of a single type specimen in the original publication.

Remarks:
Ancey (1902b: 48) wrote the species information as ‘Bul. Bomalotianus, Anc. emend.)’. This is assumed to be a misspelling of bonvallotianus. See bonvallotianus for full discussion.
