To size: To 8mm. Shell Structure: Fragile, translucent. Equivalve: Equivalve. Equilateral: Equilateral. Tumidity: Inflated. Outline: Oval-subrhomboidal, Dorsal and ventral margins tapering; ventral margin a little pointed. Ears short, projecting. Dorsal margin horizontal or a little oblique. Dorsal area wide.

Sculpture: About 50 fine radial riblets fading over the umbonal region and dorsal lateral areas, LV with two median ribs bordering a furrow, RV with a single rib bordered by weak furrows. Concentric sculpture of variously spaced concentric lines. Ligament: In a wide triangular resilifer on the cardinal area. Hinge: Hinge plate on either side of resilifer smooth. Pallial Musculature: Mostly obscure, single subcircular posterior adductor scar visible in some. Periostracum: Thin, obscure. Colour: White.

Distribution & Ecology

A deep water species with a reported wide bathymetric range from the upper slope to abyssal depths. Found all along the Atlantic margin and into the Faroe-Shetland Channel.
