To 38 mm.
Shell Structure:
Thin, fragile.
Equivalve:
Inequivalve, right valve impedes slightly on left.
Equilateral:
Inequilateral, beaks to posterior.
Outline:
Oval, subtruncate. The anterior dorsal margin broadly curved to ventral margin. Posterior dorsal margin much lower and almost straight to the truncate posterior margin. Truncate area tends to stay covered in periostracum giving a shaded area which stands out.
Sculpture:
Fine concentric grooves and thin raised ridges. Thin crack on beak gives the identifying character for it to be put in
Cochlodesma
.
Margin:
Smooth.
Ligament:
Internal part on an oval shaped, protruding resilifer, external is thin, tiny streak either side of the beaks.
Hinge:
No laterals or cardinals and no hinge plate. Resilifer protrudes downwards and is oval.
Pallial Musculature:
Pallial sinus fairly deep, to beneath beak and not confluent with pallial line.
Periostracum:
Thin, beige/cream.
Colour:
White.
