To size: To 4mm. Shell Structure: Extremely thin, transparent. Equivalve: Equivalve. Equilateral: Slightly inequilateral, beaks just in front of midline. Tumidity: Compressed. Outline: Oval. Anterior slightly narrower than posterior. Contour: Umbos very low.

Sculpture: Smooth with occasional concentric lines. Margin: Smooth. Ligament: Internal, very small, beneath beaks. Hinge: Taxodont but of few very elongate teeth lying almost parallel to the dorsal margins. Pallial Musculature: Indistinct. Periostracum: Very thin, pale olive. Colour: Transparent, glassy with soft parts clearly showing through. Additional Characters: Gut loop as a single open coil to the anterior of the left side.

Distribution & Ecology

A north Atlantic abyssal species ranging into the Porcupine Abyssal Plain.
