Morphology
Shape
Valves lanceolate with broadly rounded, subrostrate ends.
Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical, heterovalvar.
Striae
Striae radiate, interrupted on one side of the centre in the rapheless valve by a horseshoe-shaped plain area which is hollow internally.
Axial area
Narrow, linear.
Central area
Large, rectangular or irregular, bordered by 1-3 shorter striae of varying length.
Raphe
Straight with expanded proximal ends and distal ends deflected unilaterally.
SEM morphology
Striae multiseriate, composed of (2)3-4 rows of small areolae with round external openings, and internal openings occluded by cribra.
