Shape
Valves arcuate, convex dorsal margin much more curved than slightly concave ventral margin; ends capitate and slightly reflexed except in very small cells.
Symmetry
Dorsiventral, isopolar.
Striae
Striae radiate throughout the valve.
Raphe
Short raphe on mantle, short terminal fissures visible on the valve face very close to the poles.
