Morphology
Shape
Valves weakly arcuate, ends slightly protracted and rounded; valve margins almost parallel, but dorsal margin slightly more curved, convex, ventral margin almost straight or slightly concave; frustules in girdle view rhomboidal or trapeziform.
Symmetry
Dorsiventral, heteropolar.
Striae
Striae more or less parallel throughout, or becoming very slightly radiate at the poles.
Raphe
Short raphe on mantle, short terminal fissures visible on the valve face relatively closely to the poles.
