Morphology
Size
Length 14.1-50.4 µm, width 3.8-5.1 µm (Wetzel & Ector 2015).
Shape
Valves linear or lineae-elliptic with rostrate or subcapitate ends.
Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.
Striae
Striae mostly more or less parallel at the valve centre becoming slightly radiate towards the ends, 11-14 in 10 µm (Wetzel & Ector 2015).
Axial area
Narrow, linear.
Central area
Large, quadrangular or rounded, unilateral and extending to the valve margin; ghost striae can be present.
SEM morphology
Uniseriate striae with rounded, occluded areolae.
Two apical pore fields.
One rimoportula near a pore field.
Small spines can be present at the valve margin.
Length 14.1-50.4 µm, width 3.8-5.1 µm (Wetzel & Ector 2015).
