Morphology
Size
13.5-30 µm long, 5-7 µm wide (Lange-Bertalot 2001, Genkal & Yarushina 2019).
Shape
Valves elliptic-lanceolate with protracted sub-capitate to capitate ends.
Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.
Striae
Striae broad, radiate in central part of valve, becoming convergent near apices, 8-12 in 10 µm (Lange-Bertalot 2001, Genkal & Yarushina 2019).
Axial area
Narrow, linear.
Central area
Small rounded, bordered by a slightly shortened stria on each side.
Raphe
Raphe straight, filiform with expanded central and distal endings; central endings positioned close to each other, distal endings slightly deflected.
SEM morphology
Striae biseriate with slit-like apically elongated external areola openings.
