Morphology
Size
Length 60-120 µm, width 1.8-2.5 µm (Lange-Bertalot & Ulrich 2014).
Shape
Valves linear, gradually tapering nearer to the subcapitate ends.
Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.
Striae
Striae parallel, alternating, 18-20 in 10 µm (Lange-Bertalot & Ulrich 2014).
Axial area
Slightly widened.
Central area
Appears mostly indistinct in LM, ghost stria present, sometimes it is widenend.
SEM morphology
Uniseriate striae with occluded, round or apically elongate areolae.
Two apical pore fields.
One rimoportula near a pore field.
Spines are present along the valve margin.
Length 60-120 µm, width 1.8-2.5 µm (Lange-Bertalot & Ulrich 2014).
