Morphology

Shape
Narrowly lanceolate to lanceolate with rounded apices.

Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.

Striae
Strongly radiate at centre, radiate through much of the valve, becoming parallel and then convergent near the apices.

Axial area
Narrow linear.

Central area
Round to rhombic, 1/3 to rarely 1/2 of the valve width.

Raphe
Straight, with expanded central endings within the central area, terminal endings clearly hooked at the valve apices.

Other features
Central nodule often well-defined and rounded.
