Morphology
Size
33-95 µm long, 14.5-22 µm wide (Lange-Bertalot et al. 2017, Reichardt 2018).
Shape
Valves with strongly convex dorsal margin, tapering abruptly near valve ends; ventral margin more or less straight with slightly tumid central section. Valve ends broadly rounded, protracted, rostrate.
Symmetry
Dorsiventral, isopolar.
Striae
Striae radiate and often curved, 8-11 in 10 µm in valve centre, areolae visible in LM, 14-19 in 10 µm (Lange-Bertalot et al. 2017).
Axial area
Narrow, linear, approximately in centre of valve.
Central area
Round or rhombic, approximately 1/3-1/2 of valve width.
Raphe
Raphe slightly lateral becoming filiform near proximal and distal ends, proximal ends expanded, drop-shaped, slightly ventrally deflected, dorsally deflected terminal fissures.
Other features
One stigma on ventral side of central nodule.
