Morphology
Size
15-20 µm long, 5.5-6.5 wide (Van de Vijver et al. 2018).
Shape
Valves lanceolate with slightly protracted subrostrate ends or ends not protracted and broadly rounded.
Symmetry
Isopolar, heterovalvar.
Striae
Raphe valve: strongly radiate, 14-16 in 10 µm; rapheless valve: parallel in valve centre, slightly radiate near valve ends, 15-17 in 10 µm (Van de Vijver et al. 2018).
Axial area
Narrow, linear on both valves.
Central area
Raphe valve: small rounded central area bordered by several shortened striae of different length; rapheless valve: central area absent.

Straight, filiform with expanded proximal raphe ends.
SEM morphology
Small spinules scattered over entire valve face.
