Morphology
Size
16.7-22.3 µm long, 12-13.6 µm wide (UK population), 15-36 µm long, 6.5-13 µm wide (Lange-Bertalot et al. 2017).
Shape
Valves cruciform with narrowly rounded ends.
Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical, sometimes slightly asymmetrical to the axial axis.
Striae
Striae slightly radiate, 9 in 10 µm (UK population).
Axial area
Linear to lanceolate.
