Morphology
Shape
Valves narrow elliptic-lanceolate, tapering more strongly towards the head pole with a bluntly rounded or very slightly protracted apex.
Symmetry
Heteropolar, bilaterally symmetrical or very slightly dorsiventral.
Striae
More or less parallel at the centre, becoming slightly radiate at the poles; shortened striae at the valve centre are more widely spaced; areolae semi-circular (SEM).
Axial area
Widens towards the central area.
Central area
Laterally expanded and squarish, bordered by 1-2 short central striae; one round isolated 'stigma' close to the proximal raphe endings, clearly separated from central stria.
Raphe
Slightly undulate, proximal endings slightly expanded and slightly deflected, positioned close to each other; terminal fissures slightly curved and extending onto mantle.
