Morphology
Shape
Arcuate, linear with slightly tapering valve margins and capitate ends; dorsal margin convex, ventral margin concave with a central swelling.
Symmetry
Isopolar, asymmetric to the apical axis.
Striae
Parallel, ghost striae can be present in the unilateral central area.
Axial area
Narrow, linear.
Central area
Rounded, slightly irregular with unilateral central swelling.
SEM morphology
Striae uniseriate with round or apically elongate external areola openings.
Two apical pore fields are present.
One or two rimoportulae are present near the valve ends.
