Morphology
Size
15-44 µm long, 5-10 µm wide (Lange-Bertalot et al. 2017).
Shape
Valves linear-elliptic with broadly rounded valve ends and parallel to slightly convex valve margins.
Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.
Striae
Striae radiate throughout the valve, slightly curved, 27-30 in 10 µm (Lange-Bertalot et al. 2017).
Axial area
Narrow, linear.
Central area
Large rounded to transverse elliptical, bordered by several shortened striae.
Raphe
Raphe filiform, straight; central pores slightly expanded, distantly spaced near margin of central area.
SEM morphology
Striae composed of rounded areolae. Distal raphe ends deflected to opposite sides a short distance before valve ends.
