Synonymy
Tetracyclus lacustris Ralfs 1843
Key references

Morphology
Size
25-80 (85) µm long, 15-40 µm wide (Williams 1987).
Shape
Valves with central inflation and rounded to slightly pointed apices.
Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.
Striae
Striae slightly curved, slightly radiate in the central part of the valve, radiate towards the valve ends; 20-26 in 10 µm (Williams 1987).
Axial area
Sternum central, narrow.
Other features
Transverse ribs 3-4 in 10 µm, most are primary, some secondary or tertiary.
SEM morphology
Apical pore field located on the mantle. Areolae of the striae more widely and irregularly spaced towards the sternum. Cingulum consisting of valvocopula, many copulae and a narrow pleura.
