Morphology
Size
Length 12-15 µm, width 2.5-3 µm (type material, Lange-Bertalot 2001).
Shape
Valves linear or narrowly elliptical with slightly protracted, bluntly rounded apices; frustules in girdle view rectangular.
Symmetry
Valves isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.
Striae
Striae can be difficult to resolve in LM, radiate in the central part of the valve, becoming convergent towards the apices.
Axial area
Narrow, linear.
Central area
Very small or absent.
Raphe
Raphe simple, straight with very slightly deflected proximal raphe ends, and hooked distal raphe fissures, deflected to the same side; raphe sternum visible as more refractive line through centre of valve, expanded slightly at centre and with slightly more refractive, dot –like, polar nodules.
Length 12-15 µm, width 2.5-3 µm (type material, Lange-Bertalot 2001).
