Morphology
Shape
Valves cymbelloid with convex dorsal margin, very slightly convex ventral margin and rounded, sometimes slightly protracted ends.
Symmetry
Dorsiventral.
Striae
Striae slighty radiate throughout the valve; areolae are apically elongate (SEM) and clearly visible in LM, striae adjacent to central area terminate sometimes in small round areolae (SEM).
Axial area
Narrow, straight.
Central area
Indistinct, sometimes very small oval.
Raphe
Appears straight or slightly curved, slightly displaced ventrally, with expanded, slightly dorsally bent proximal endings, and short ventrally deflected terminal fissures near the valve margin.
