Morphology
Size
22-176 µm long, 4.5-8 µm wide (Lange-Bertalot et al. 2017).
Shape
Valves linear, margins tapering close to protracted, rostrate poles.
Symmetry
Isopolar, isovalvar, bilaterally symmetrical.
Striae
Striae broad, short, more or less parallel.
Axial area
Axial area wide and lanceolate.
SEM morphology
Striae consisting of a row of apically elongate, complex areolae, wider adjacent to valve margin, smaller adjacent to axial area, occluded externally by cribra. A distinct apical pore field located in an ocellulimbus at each pole. Two (sometimes one) rimoportulae close to apices.
22-176 µm long, 4.5-8 µm wide (Lange-Bertalot et al. 2017).
