Morphology
Size
Length 8.4-18.4 µm, 2.7-4.6 µm (type material; Potapova & Ponader 2004).
Shape
Valves linear-elliptic, linear-lanceolate or elliptic-lanceolate with subrostrate poles; the valves can appear slightly asymmetrical about the apical axis.
Symmetry
Valves isopolar.
Valve
Frustules heterovalvate, raphe valve concave, rapheless valve convex.
Striae
Striae almost parallel or slightly radiate, near poles slightly radiate or sometimes very slightly convergent.
Axial area
Linear, very slightly widening towards the valve centre on the raphe and rapheless valve.
Central area
On the raphe valve almost absent, small rounded, oval, transapically elongate, or a transverse fascia, sometimes only on one side of the valve with a shortened striae on the opposite side; on the rapheless valve absent or small, narrow elongate.
Raphe
Simple straight with straight, slightly expanded proximal ends, and distal fissures slightly expanded and deflected to the same side.
