Morphology
Size
Diameter 5-43 µm (Krammer & Lange-Bertalot 1991).
Shape
Valves circular.
Valve
A well-defined marginal zone with striae and a central area without features visible in LM except the tangential undulation of the valve surface.
Striae
Striae 6-10/10 µm, internally long alveolar chambers.
SEM morphology
Central fultoportulae.
Marginal fultoportulae almost on every costa.
One marginal rimoportula.
Surface of the central area smooth or colliculate on the outside; smooth internally.
