Morphology
Size
42-108 µm long, 8.5-14.3 µm wide at head pole, 8.5-14 µm wide at valve centre (Reichardt 1999).
Shape
Valve margin triundulate with narrow apiculate apex at head pole; similar valve width at inflations at head pole and in valve centre, valve linear towards foot pole.
Symmetry
Heteropolar, bilaterally symmetrical.
Striae
Parallel to slightly radiate, more strongly radiate near apex and towards foot pole; 8-12 in 10 µm (Reichardt 1999); striae consisting of C- or kidney-shaped areolae (SEM).
Axial area
Slightly widened, narrowing near head and foot pole.
Central area
Small, slightly transapically expanded on one side, bordered by a shortened stria; one isolated 'stigma' close to slightly shortened stria on the opposite side, internal opening elongate (SEM).
Raphe
Undulate, proximal raphe endings hardly expanded, hooked internally; distal raphe fissures deflected terminating on mantle.
