Morphology
Size
Length 10-ca. 50 µm, width 3-8 µm (Krammer & Lange-Bertalot 1988).
Shape
Valves linear-lanceolate with tri-undulate valve margins, the central swelling can be asymmetrical; valve ends subcapitate or capitate.
Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.
Striae
Punctate, slightly radiate, 10-25 in 10 µm (Krammer & Lange-Bertalot 1988).
Other features
Large fibulae extending 1/3 to 1/2 over the valve face, 5-8 in 10 µm (Krammer & Lange-Bertalot 1988).
SEM morphology
Raphe continuous (no central nodule).
