Morphology
Shape
Valves with convex dorsal margin, straight or slightly convex ventral margin, sometimes ventral margin inflated only in the central section; rounded, sometimes very slightly protracted ends.
Symmetry
Dorsiventral.
Striae
Striae parallel or slightly radiate dorsally, ventral striae radiate near the valve centre, becoming parallel away from the centre; dorsally and ventrally striae are convergent near the valve ends.
Axial area
Narrow, slightly curved.
Central area
Rarely differentiated from the axial area, sometimes very slightly widened ventrally.
Raphe
Raphe slightly displaced towards the ventral margin, raphe curved towards the ventral margin near the proximal raphe ends, which are slightly enlarged, more or less straight or sometimes slightly bent; dorsally deflected terminal raphe fissures.
SEM morphology
4-8 stigmata close to the central ventral striae.
