Morphology
Shape
Valves broadly lanceolate to elliptical, with narrowly rostrate to slightly sub-capitate apices.
Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.
Striae
Radiate through most of valve, parallel to slightly convergent at apices; striae coarsely cross-lineate with areolae visible.
Axial area
Narrow linear.
Central area
Transapically expanded, elliptic or slightly asymmetrical, with three or four shortened striae at centre, moderately large ca. 1/2 of valve width.
Raphe
Straight, with slightly expanded, dot-like proximal endings, ending within the central area; terminal fissures hooked at the apices.
Other features
Central nodule only slightly wider than the raphe sternum.
