Morphology
Shape
Valves linear-lanceolate with rounded ends, rectangular in girdle view.
Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.
Striae
Parallel, radiate towards the valve ends.
Axial area
Very narrow, linear or slightly curved.
SEM morphology
Pore field at both valve ends.
Striae do not extend onto the mantle, they are uniseriate with round external areola openings.
Internally the virgae are thickened.
