Morphology
Shape
Linear-elliptic with broadly rounded subrostrate ends.
Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical, heterovalvar.
Striae
Parallel or slightly radiate.
Axial area
Narrow, linear.
Central area
On both valves a transverse fascia, sometimes a rectangular or acute-angled subfascia, sometimes a smaller irregular central area, when not extending to the margins bordered by striae of varying length on one or both sides.
Raphe
Straight, very slightly expanded round proximal and distal ends.
SEM morphology
Uniseriate striae with round or transapically elongated external areola openings, internally areolae are occluded by cribra.
