Morphology
Shape
Valves linear-elliptic to elliptic or linear-lanceolate, valve margins in larger valves almost parallel; slightly protracted poles are bluntly rounded.
Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.
Striae
Uniseriate, parallel to very slightly radiate towards the poles, with round areolae occluded by hymenes (SEM); striae on valve face and mantle terminate in two smaller areolae adjacent to the raphe and form a triplet of small areolae within the raphe canal (SEM); raphe interrupted at the centre (SEM).
Raphe
Fibulate raphe system at valve margin; fibulae dot-like, interfibular spaces similar except at centre where fibulae are usually wider spaced.
