Morphology
Size
18.0-25.4 µm long, 6.4-7.0 µm wide (Wetzel et al. 2013).
Shape
Valves elliptic-lanceolate with protracted, rostrate apices.
Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.
Valve
Heterovalvar.
Striae
Weakly radiate throughout valve, 13-15 in 10 µm (Wetzel et al. 2013).
Axial area
Axial area narrow, linear, slightly widening close to central area.
Central area
Central area on raphe valve large, occupying more than half of valve width, rectangular or elliptic, bordered by 2-3 shortened striae. Central area on rapheless valve a unilateral hyaline area with cavum, striae on opposite side not or very slightly shortened.
Raphe
Raphe straight with slightly expanded drop-like central raphe endings, distal raphe fissures unilaterally deflected.
SEM morphology
Striae on rapheless valve composed of 2-3 rows of areolae, on raphe valve composed of 3-4 rows of areolae.
