Morphology
Size
15.0-20.0 µm long, 4.0-5.0 µm wide (various populations, Van de Vijver unpubl. data).
Shape
Valves linear with bi-undulate margins and protracted rostrate to subcapitate apices.
Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.
Striae
Striae more or less parallel in valve centre, slightly radiate towards apices, 13-15 in 10 µm.
Axial area
Sternum linear to narrow lanceolate.
Other features
Frustules linked forming ribbon-like colonies.
