Morphology

Shape
Linear, linear-lanceolate, the smallest valves lanceolate, with rostrate or in smaller valves cuneate ends.

Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.

Striae
Striae parallel to slightly radiate, 15-16 in 10 µm (Wetzel & Ector 2015).

Axial area
Narrow, linear.

Central area
Large, quadrangular, often unilateral and extending to the valve margin.


SEM morphology
Uniseriate striae with rounded, occluded, rimmed areolae.

Two apical pore fields with porelli arranged in regular rows.

One rimoportula near a pore field.
