Morphology
Size
Length 25-53 µm, width 8.5-11.0 µm (Pavlov et al. 2016).
Shape
Valves linear-lanceolate, margins tapering more strongly beyond the row of partecta to cuneate ends.
Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.
Striae
Slightly radiate, they can become parallel or slightly convergent at the valve ends.
Axial area
Narrow, linear.
Central area
Round, oval, sometimes irregular due to striae of various length bordering the central area.
Raphe
Undulate with expanded central ends.
Other features
Partectal ring clearly visible in LM.
SEM morphology
Proximal raphe ends drop-shaped and slightly deflected, distal raphe ends deflected towards the same side.
Striae biseriate with rounded external areola openings, areola bordering the axial area can be slightly larger, of various shapes and irregularly aligned.
Pseudosepta present at the valve ends.
