Morphology
Size
Length: 13.0-25.8 µm, width: 4.5-5.0 µm (Delgado et al. 2015).
Shape
Linear, smaller valves elliptic with subcapitate or capitate ends.
Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.
Striae
Striae parallel and radiate, 13-15(16) in 10 µm (UK populations).
Axial area
Linear, widening towards the central area.
Central area
Large, quadrangular, rounded or irregular, sometimes indistinct, unilateral and extending to the valve margin.
SEM morphology
Uniseriate striae with rounded, occluded areolae.
Two apical pore fields with porelli arranged in regular rows.
One rimoportula near a pore field.
