Morphology

Size
6.5-21 µm long, 2.5-3.3 µm wide (Lange-Bertalot et al. 2011).

Shape
Valves arcuate with rounded apices.

Symmetry
Isopolar.

Striae
Parallel, 21-27 in 10 µm (Lange-Bertalot et al. 2011).

Raphe
Distal raphe ends curve onto the valve face close to the apices.


SEM morphology
Uniseriate striae continue around the apices. Round or oval, externally occluded areola openings. Areolae continue without interruption onto the dorsal margin. A narrow sternum is present at the ventral margin.

Raphe fissures straight located on the mantle close to the valve face/mantle junction.

A rimoportula present at the centre of the apex.
