Morphology

Size
Diameter 10-35 µm (Genkal & Kulikovskiy 2009).

Shape
Valves circular with shallow mantle, cells forming short chains.

Valve
Valve face flat.

Striae
Small areolae arranged either radially (striae 32-38 in 10 µm, Genkal & Kulikovskiy 2009), distributed randomly or forming a mesh with cross-venation.


SEM morphology
Fultoportulae on valve face located randomly mostly near valve centre, or forming a ring, 1-10 (Genkal & Kulikovskiy 2009), 3-6 (Heudre 2020); marginal fultoportulae 8-16 in 10 µm (Genkal & Kulikovskiy 2009, 11-14 in 10 µm (Heudre et al. 2020). One rimoportula located near the valve margin.
