Morphology
Size
Length 40-165 µm, width 12-16 µm (Brant & Furey 2011, Lange-Bertalot et al. 2011).
Shape
Dorsal margin convex with 6-18 (Metzeltin & Lange-Bertalot 2007), 22 (Brant & Furey 2011) undulations, concave ventral margin.
Symmetry
Dorsiventral, isopolar.
Striae
Striae parallel, becoming slightly radiate and curved near valve ends. Striae mostly equidistant, 10-16 in 10 µm, up to 20 in 10 µm near valve ends (Lange-Bertalot et al. 2011); shorter striae sometimes intercalated at dorsal margin.
Raphe
Raphe curving onto valve face close to valve ends, terminating approximately halfway between ventral and dorsal margin.
