Morphology

Size
32.5-48.5 µm long, 8.5-10.0 µm wide (UK population).

Shape
Valves linear-elliptic, margins tapering slightly and gradually to broadly rounded or cuneate apices.

Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.

Striae
Striae radiate, becoming parallel towards valve ends, and convergent at apices, 10.5-12.5 in 10 µm.

Axial area
Narrow, linear, slightly widening towards central area.

Central area
Central area rounded, rhombic or oval bordered by several shortened striae of different length.
