Morphology

Size
5-12 µm long, 3-3.5 µm wide (Van de Vijver 2022).

Shape
Valves elliptic-lanceolate with cuneate to broadly rounded apices.

Symmetry
Isopolar, occasionally slightly heteropolar; bilaterally symmetrical, occasionally slightly asymmetric along the apical axis.

Striae
Striae slightly radiate in valve middle, becoming more strongly radiate towards apices, alternating, 15-16 in 10 µm (Van de Vijver 2022).

Axial area
Narrow, linear.


SEM morphology
Marginal spines in pairs, located on virgae.
