To size: To 3.5mm. Shell Structure: Thin, fragile. Equivalve: Equivalve. Equilateral: Equilateral. Tumidity: Rather inflated. Outline: Ovate to ovate rhomboidal, distinctly narrow, higher than long; anterior dorsal margin sloping to broadly curving anterior; ventral margin narrowly rounded to a little angulate; posterior margin slightly straightened and therefore distinct from long gently curved posterior dorsal margin, this slightly angulate close to the beaks. Contour: Auricle present, short but indistinct as submarginal sulcus is shallow and weakly demarcated; posterior area a little flattened, posterior angle very weak.

Sculpture: Smooth with growth lines. Margin: Smooth. Ligament: External but deeply sunken, short within auricle. Hinge: Hinge plate weak, slightly thickened anterior and below beaks, protuberances indistinct. Pallial Musculature: Muscle scars obscure. Periostracum: Obscure. Colour: Shell white anterior and posterior ventral ferruginous deposits frequent. Additional Characters: 1 demibranch.

Distribution & Ecology

From mid-slope and abyssal settings, common in Rockall Trough. Morphologically similar to A. croulinensis but symbiont status unknown, probably not chemosymbiotic. Gill with 1 demibranch.
