To size: To 36mm. Shell Structure: Solid. Equivalve: Inequivalve, RV larger than LV. Equilateral: Slightly inequilateral, posterior longer than anterior. Outline: Dorsal margins slope to posterior and anterior margins. Anterior broadly rounded, posterior truncate. Ventral margin rounded. Umbos of RV more inflated than LV.

Sculpture: Concentric lines with coarse granulation, denser on the posterior area. Margin: Smooth. Ligament: Internal and external: External long; Internal on a long narrow resilifer. Pallial Musculature: Shallow broad pallial sinus. Not confluent. Periostracum: Yellow/grayish brown. Colour: White.

Distribution & Ecology

A sub-arctic species reaching Iceland and Norway south to 68°N.
