Morphology
Size
35-115 µm long, 10-21 µm wide (Lange-Bertalot & Moser 1994).
Shape
Valves lanceolate with cuneate apices.
Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.
Striae
Uniseriate, radiate, 19-23 in 10 µm (Lange-Bertalot & Moser 1994), transapically elongated areolae are visible in LM.
Axial area
Broad, widening towards the central area.
Central area
Rhombic or rounded, ca. 1/3 of the valve width.
Raphe
Straight, filiform with small proximal raphe ends.
SEM morphology
Valve surface with apically orientated ridges.
A ridge on either side of the raphe and along the valve margin.
35-115 µm long, 10-21 µm wide (Lange-Bertalot & Moser 1994).
Shape
