Morphology
Size
Length 40-170 µm, width 1.5-2.5 µm (Lange-Bertalot & Ulrich 2014).
Shape
Valves linear, gradually tapering from the valve centre with rounded ends.
Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.
Striae
Striae parallel, opposite or alternating, 23-28 in 10 µm (Lange-Bertalot & Ulrich 2014).
Axial area
Narrow, linear.
Central area
Appears indistinct in LM, but is elongate and wide in SEM, but not extending to the valve margin.
SEM morphology
Uniseriate striae with few, round, occluded areolae.
Two small apical pore fields.
One rimoportula near a pore field.
