Notes on Nomenclature
To size:
To 80mm.
Shell Structure:
Solid but not heavy.
Equivalve:
Inequivalve, cemented valve cupped, upper valve flat or weakly convex.
Equilateral:
Inequilateral.
Outline:
Suboval to subcircular, margins of lower valve irregularly fluted, upper valve less so.
Sculpture:
Upper valve foliaceous with underlying radial ribs; lower valve with radiating ribs in a disrupted pattern.
Margin:
Chomata mostly absent, some with a few ostreiine chomata close to the ligament.
Ligament:
Amphidetic, internal on a triangular resilifer.
Pallial Musculature:
Adductor scar kidney shaped, colour as underlying shell.
Colour:
Upper valve tan becoming black with paler radiating rays; lower valve paler overall. Internally creamy to yellowish with a darker marginal band.
