To size: 5 mm. Shell Structure: Relatively thick. Equivalve: Equivalve. Equilateral: Slightly inequilateral, beaks just behind midline. Tumidity: Compressed. Outline: Trigonal; posterior dorsal margin long almost straight; anterior dorsal margin long slight convex; anterior more rounded than posterior; ventral strongly curved. Contour: Lunule elongate, narrow, faintly demarcated by a weak ridge and slightly different in colour from rest of shell; escutcheon more prominent.

Sculpture: Of fine radial striations. Margin: Inner margin smooth. Ligament: Internal on a small resilifer below the beaks. Hinge: Taxodont: Teeth relatively large; up to 11 anterior and 9 posterior. Pallial Musculature: Pallial line entire; adductor scars impressed oval in outline. Periostracum: Persistent, shiny yellowish in colour. Colour: Shell white, inner surface nacreous.

Distribution & Ecology

A deep sea species restricted to around 51°N. In our study area it has only been recorded in Porcupine seabight and abyssal plain at 2600-4100m.
