To size: To 80mm. Shell Structure: Thin, fragile valves. Equivalve: Inequivalve, left valve convex, right valve flat containing byssal hole. Equilateral: Inquilateral. Tumidity: Compressed valves. Outline: Oval to subcircular.
Sculpture: Smooth with faint comarginal lines and ridges. Margin: Smooth. Ligament: Half moon shaped ligament in a pit. Hinge: Traces of crural ridge. Pallial Musculature: One large elongate muscle scar (byssus ajoined to pedal retractor) joined to a smaller circular scar (pedal retractor). Periostracum: Obscure. Colour: White.
Distribution & Ecology
North Carolina through to West Indies, Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico and south through to Argentina.
