Shape
Valves lanceolate or rhombic-lanceolate, cuneate or narrowly rounded ends not or slightly protracted.

Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.

Striae
Striae radiate, hardly discernible, 45-55 in 10 µm (Lange-Bertalot et al. 2017).

Raphe
Raphe straight, located on thickened sternum, adjacent to sternum a less silicified area of the valve forming a lanceolate depression.


SEM morphology
Terminal raphe fissures curved to the same side, sternum centrally constricted on the same side; strongly silicified parts of valve adjacent to valve margins bear striae composed of round and transversally elongate areolae.
