Morphology
Shape
Linear-laneolate with rounded, subrostrate or subcapitate ends, in girdle view almost rectangular.
Symmetry
Isopolar, bilaterally symmetrical.
Striae
More or less parallel throughout, punctate.
Axial area
Narrow, slightly irregular, widening towards the valve centre.
Central area
Large quadrangular fascia which might have ghost striae; internally a rounded depression is present.
SEM morphology
External areola openings occluded by cribra.
One rimoportula at each valve end positioned diagonal or perpendicular to the sternum.
'Sunken' apical pore fields at each valve end.
